Organic Architects was started in 2005 by Gareth Roberts and Andrea Wise. We quickly picked up work for commercial developers, designing rural holiday home developments and individual houses.
We placed our office in Helensburgh, a seafront town in beautiful Argyll and Bute. Starting a practice here was a vote of confidence in the place, and it fitted our lifestyle. We now have our base in a beautiful small converted church. The church is being converted and flats built around it to create a mixed use place in the heart of the town.
The practice promotes the sustainable way we have always lived. The electricity we use to draw comes from wind power, we heat our office from a log burner, our staff are encouraged to cycle to work. This all supports our design work which is always informed by our experience of the west coast climate, weatherproofing and effective energy efficiency measures.
The buildings and places we design reflect the aims of our clients. We don’t really have a ‘house style’ or an orthodoxy which our clients have to fall in with; our aim is to match the needs of every client with the site and the needs of their project.
Our team provides experienced technical proficiency as well as sensitive and contemporary design.
In employing Organic Architects we aim to give you a building which does more than you expect. We borrowed a phrase from car design which we think sums this up perfectly; Surprise and Delight.
By combining time-honoured building techniques with modern materials to craft beautiful and efficient buildings we create Places with Spirit.
